Ingrid and Tim’s Engagement

Artists, actors and crazy in love- meet Ingrid and Tim! We hopped all over Olympia and Tumwater for their shoot and it totally paid off. There is something inside me that gets giddy when I see a couple with so much joy that they simply cant contain it during a shoot and these two made me giddy all over the place! It’s always a little intimidating to be chosen as the photographer by artists – I, of course, see myself as an artist, but when a client is an artist with an an eye for fine art, there is a fear that I’ll fall short of the expectations — yet as often as artists have picked me as their photographer and as thrilled as they always are with the end results, I have come to really enjoy and am quite honored to be the photographer for their creative couples!

Andy and Casey’s Engagment

Steilacoom at sunset is one of the most picturesque spots and perfect for shooting the engagement pictures of a great couple like Casey and Andy! These two lack nothing in the fun category - yet the entire photo session felt so peaceful and even relaxing – such a fun characteristic of these two!! From the bluffs overlooking the sound to the docks were people were pulling up crab – we toured downtown Steilacoom and had a great time. Congratulations Casey and Andy!! Looking forward to your wedding day!!

Amy and Jonathan’s Engagement

Rain or shine, Amy and Jonathan never let the weather wipe the smiles off their faces!! Both of them showed up looking great and ready for a sunny day shoot – but when it rained on us, they pulled out the umbrella and made the shoot even more fun! You know you have a special couple when even adverse weather cant seem to distract them from having fun together and being in love. If this was the engagement shoot- I cant wait for the wedding day!!

Something a Little Different

Ok, today’s post is a bit outside of my norm, but I thought that it could be fun to post something different. I grew up with my father being totally in love with old corvettes- I am definitely not a “car guy” – heck, I drive a Subaru Forester because its safe for kids and I can take it out camping and not care if it gets dinged up – So maybe it’s a nostalgia thing, or simply the admiration of something that comes with your father’s love – but when I see old corvettes, well, I cant help but stop and stare.

So when one of the couples we shot a wedding for were going to leave in a classic corvette, I had to take a few moments to get some fun car shots! If you are a professional motor vehicle photographer, I’m sure you could pick these apart – but that is not my specialty so I’m posting these for the fun of it – cheers!

Lily Jane Fletcher

Just a few months ago, Gabe asked me to become his second photographer. I think there was some uncertainty about how things would turn out and if this would be good for our marriage. Let’s face it, working with your spouse can either be a dream come true or a total nightmare. Fortunately, it has been the former. Gabe is so encouraging and supportive, not to mention, he is a ton of fun to work with. Doing wedding photography with him has been a blast over the last few months. As my love of photography has blossomed, I have been exploring areas that thrill me and discovering my own little niche. I am finding it in doing photos of women and families. I’ve dabbled in boudoir and maternity photography a bit and love capturing the true beauty of the women who invite me in to some of the most intimate aspects of their lives. One of the unexpected gems of maternity photography is doing newborn photos. Just yesterday, I did my first newborn shoot of Lily Jane Fletcher. She is a lovely, sweet baby. Joy and Jon’s Wedding – Part 1

Every wedding we post about presents the very challenging task of narrowing the images to a number that can be realistically posted here on our blog – this is rarely an easy take. However, there are some weddings where the couple, the location, the details and the surprises of a wedding day make for such epic wedding pictures that there is simply no way narrow the images down to one or even two posts. Jon and Joy’s wedding was just such a day!

They got ready in two separate locations – the very artsy and beautiful Hotel Murano and the Sublime Spa at the Hyatt in Downtown Tacoma. The wedding itself was held at the stunning Thornwood Castle on Lake Washington. And Joy and Jon are a couple that drink deeply from life – they live passionately and drench everyone around them in joy!

This is the first of several posts where we wanted to try to give our readers a gimps into this fabulous day.
